Music at School

We had our first music lesson with Mrs Fourie on Monday and boy did we enjoy that.

We tuned the ukeleles in and also had an oportunity to qualify for the Reremoana idols competition. We did not know we had so many good singers in our class.

We cannot wait to see the Reremoana School idols.

Have a look at our musicians.

Milo Cup Cricket

Our Milo Cup Cricket team had their second match today (1st March 2012). We are happy to say that Reremoana School had their first Milo Cup win today. We played our match against Karaka School at the Drury Sports Grounds.

Our team lost the toss and were sent in to bat first. We had a great start with Connor and Connor standing firmly. A special word of congratulations to Connor Massen for an excellent 50 not out. This is the best batting performance by any player in our school's history. Well done Connor, and keep it up. The Black Caps need all the help they can get. Our team scored 117 runs in the 20 overs. That was the most runs ever scored by our school.

Our fielding effort turned out to be another excellent performance and team effort. We ran 3 batsmen out and the rest were bowled out by: Jacob (2 Wickets), Clark (2 Wickets), Cameron (2 Wickets) and Bradley (1 Wicket). We had all the Karaka School batsmen out for 19 runs. What a great performance.

We enjoy playing cricket and had lots of fun playing today. Thanks to the parents that took us today and Milo for sponsoring this event.

Kereru Team Swimming

On Monday the 20th February we had our annual Kereru Team Swimming day. We left from school at 10:40 and returned back to School at 14:45.

We had our day at the Sykes rd pools in Manurewa. Our day consisted of swimming events like 25m and 50m freestyle, 25m butterfly, 25m backstroke and 25m breaststroke. Students could sign up for the swimming events they wanted to do.

We also had class games. We had a competition where we had to pass balls through our legs to the other side of the pool and a hoola hoop relay. We had to come up with a plan to beat the other classes. Our plans must have been very good, because we won every class race.

We also had some relays. The first one was the doggy paddle relay. We had to select 10 swimmers to take part in this event. The second relay was the purple ball relay. We had to pass a little purple ball as a relay baton, but the catch was that we could not touch the ball with our hands. The team consisted of another 10 swimmers. Our last relay was a 10 x 25m freestyle relay.

We had lots of fun and enjoyed hanging out with our mates.

Mathletics

I am happy to see so many of our students using Mathletics as a tool to further develop their maths skills. Some students are making use of more advanced learning tasks while other students simply use it to complete their home learning tasks. Well done Room 11. We are fast becoming the best class in the school and in New Zealand. Congratulations for the fourth place in New Zealand this week.

Continue to play live Mathletics, it develops great knowledge of the basic facts in maths. Start at level 3 and when you ace everyone there, try level 4.

Show your parents what you are doing. I bet they do not have skill to take you on. Challenge them.

Come on. Lets see if we can be the new New Zealand Champions, you never know. Even World Champions!!
