Start of the year Message from Mr Fourie!

Hi, my name is Mr Johan Fourie and I would like to introduce myself to you.

Here is some information about me:
I was born and raised in South-Africa. Later I studied teaching at the Northwest University. I started teaching in 1996 and move to New Zealand in 2004. I have been teaching for 15 going on 16 years. I enjoy teaching and pride myself on the fact that I enjoy my job. That is why I make it a priority to have a class of happy learners. I believe in the four D's - determination, desire, drive and dedication.

I believe in the holistic development of the students in my class. That means that students will be encouraged to give a range of experiences a go. We don't quit, and we don't put each other down. We set goals and work very hard to achieve them.

Students in room 11 this year will be expected to take responsibility for a bigger part of their own learning. You will have home learning every week. Home learning tasks will be accessible on this blog as well as in your homework books and homework diaries. You will receive your homework every Monday and you will be expected to hand it in on Fridays. This will give you more that enough time every week to ask if you need help. You can even use the blog to post questions you have.
Homework will consist of Mathletics, Maths, Reading and spelling every week. You will also receive Inquiry and writing home learning tasks from time to time.

Please make an effort to open this blog every week to see what is happening in room 11. Feel free to post appropriate feedback.

I am looking forward to 2012 in room 11.

Johan Fourie
